Sarah and Matt’s wedding day was held at Matt’s family’s property, which had the most beautiful apple orchard! It was so special for them to get married here instead of a far-away venue, as they spent most of their time together here during quarantine. This beautiful place truly became their home!
The two of them got ready in separate rooms on the property. Once Sarah put on her final touches, she shared a first look with Matt in front of the old barn located on the property. I especially enjoyed the photos we took with their dog, Milo. He totally stole the show – ha!
Next up was the ceremony, which was officiated by Sarah’s childhood friend. It was held in a row of apple trees at the tip top of the property’s hill. Sarah and Matt made their own chuppah for the ceremony, which is a canopy that Jewish people traditionally get married under. They constructed it out of birch trees and covered it in sunflowers. I absolutely loved having this detail as a part of their ceremony! They closed out the ceremony by stomping on some glass and sealing it with a kiss.
Afterward, cocktail hour was hosted while I snuck Sarah and Matt away for one-on-one portraits. Their cocktail hour was made complete with lawn games and delicious food. Their guests were clearly having an amazing time as numerous games of cornhole ensued!
At last, the reception was held under a big tent, which they placed in the field across the road from the property. The tent was decorated with fairy lights which gave the perfect glow as the night went on. After a very well choreographed first dance, speeches were made by siblings and parents.
Naturally, they kicked off the dance floor with the traditional horah. This is a dance performed at Jewish celebrations where the couple is lifted into the air! There were so many smiles and it was a great memory to capture!
To complete the night, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream was served (yum!) in lieu of cake and a live band played well into the night.
