Rainy Summer Wedding at Waterville Valley Resort | Mariah + John

I had the joy of capturing Mariah and John’s beautiful, but rainy summer wedding day over the weekend. The day unfolded at Waterville Valley Resort, and the rain didn’t stop this couple one bit! I was so impressed with how they handled everything. There was no stress, just pure happiness about finally marrying one another and spending quality time with friends and family!

Mariah got ready with her bridesmaids in matching floral pjs. She got into her wedding dress with the help of her mom, which was so sweet. Then, Mariah’s maid of honor helped her put on her grandmother’s necklace that she had received on her wedding day from her grandfather.

Mariah and John met outside next to Corcoran’s Pond for their first look. John had the sweetest reaction to seeing Mariah, as he instantly teared up as he turned and saw her. They also exchanged private vows, before we started capturing their portraits together around the property.  It rained off an on through their first look and wedding portraits, and continued through their wedding party and family photos. Clear umbrellas came to the rescue and we still captured the most stunning images, including an epic veil shot, which you know is one of my favorites! Even their pup, Mowgli, came to join us for a few photos!

The rain broke right before the ceremony. Everyone thought we were in the clear, but we were wrong. It started DOWNPOURING the minute Mariah walked down the aisle. She was undeterred and was beaming from ear-to-ear as she walked towards her future husband, it was such a special and unique moment! The rain was actually kind of magical, and definitely memorable! I’ve always heard that rain is good luck because a knot is harder to untie when wet!

The reception took place at the venue’s Garden Terrace Tent, decorated with twinkling lights. The newlyweds shared a sweet first dance together, and you could see how in love and content they both were there in each other’s arms. Afterwards, they did the traditional parent dances, along with a special dance between Mariah and her grandfather to her grandparents’ wedding song. The rest of the evening was spent happily celebrating the newlyweds and enjoying the laughter and company of their wedding guests.
