Liz + Ben | Ohana Family Camp in Vermont

Liz and Ben married on Saturday, August 21st at the Ohana Family Camp in Vermont. Their wedding was filled with so much laughter, and I loved every minute of it!

They started off the day by getting ready in separate cabins on the property. The bridesmaids wore light blue-green dresses and accessorized with their hand-picked wildflower bouquets. The colors were radiant! The groomsmen wore tan pants and suspenders, while Ben sported a navy jacket to stand out from the groomsmen.

When it came to the first look, I had Liz and Ben go to the dock because you can’t ever pass up a good water view. Their first look was SOOO cute. When I told Liz and Ben how sweet they were together Liz responded, “I think we just missed each other a lot this morning.” Cue the waterworks with that response!

As a photographer, it always amazes me how first looks really do calm nerves of my couples. It’s as if everything leading up to that very moment, doesn’t matter anymore because you are about to get to see your future spouse, forever love, dress to the nines and say “I do” in just a short moment.

After the first look and wedding party pictures, the ceremony took place. It was held outside in front of the most fantastic view of the mountains and Lake Fairlee. Again, you can never not take advantage of a water view!

After cocktail hour followed the reception. Once they were formally introduced as Mr. and Mrs, Liz and Ben went into their first dance, and then shared the father/daughter and mother/son dance simultaneously. As a photographer, I’ll say I loved the idea of having the parents dances happen at the same time, especially if you have parents who really don’t like all eyes on them. It was a neat twist on the traditional dances!

Toasts were given by both dads, Liz’s Maid of Honor, and Bens’ Best Man. Let me tell you, the toasts caused a healthy mix of tears and tilt your head back laughter. Maybe some of the tears were even from laughing so much!

One of the coolest aspects of their reception was Ben’s Band, Uncle Knuckle, actually performed a handful of songs. This made their guests go wild especially when their original song Beer Bottle Mouse was played!

Their cake was topped with a spaniel statuette to commemorate their dog, Maple, who wasn’t able to attend. And, speaking of maple, their favors were actual bottles of Vermont maple syrup. YUM! I’m pretty sure some of the guests straight up drank their bottles before the night was even over.

The night ended with everyone enjoying a slice of cake outside on the deck while watching the sun set over the mountains. It truly was a fairytale ending to an incredible wedding day.
